What Is A Cane Corso?

The Cane Corso ("KAH-neh COR-soh") dog is an ancient Italian molosser and direct descendant of the Canis Pugnax. Its name derives from the Latin "cohors" that means guardian, protector. It has an athletic build and a solid, compact body with free-flowing movement. The combination of its stable character, the absolute devotion to its master and its adaptability to the environment are the reasons of the breed's popularity and success. Historically, the dog was used to guard property and cattle, to hunt large game and the protection of the family. It is a gentle, sociable dog and easily trained to perform the duties for which it has been bred. It is also known as the Cane Corso Italiano, Cane Corso Mastiff, Cane di Macellaio, Italian Mastiff, Sicilian Branchiero. The Cane Corso breed has worldwide FCI recognition and has been recognized by the AKC in the USA since July 1, 2010.

"Good luck to you and your puppy.  It sounds like he received his second chance. My only question is why would anyone call this breeder "reputable"? I will not believe that any truly "reputable" breeder, let alone humane…"

Rights to receive puppies parents bloodlines.

This one reads like a book. I have a friend who has worked with a long time reputable breeder. He is going through a rough divorce and has decided to terminate his business. Before doing so he just had his last and final litter born this past April. When the litter was born he immediately sold the bitch and left my friend to nurse the litter of 12. She did the best she could under the circumstances as two out of the twelve died and the remaining pups were grossly under weight. After six weeks…See More

"Your  baby's big.  Mine is a lanky 160 lbs, and at 4 years old has finally stopped growing.  He was hand fed for the first year and a half of his life (he was a very timid puppy - trainer recommended hand feeding) and has never…"

7 month old male puppy not adapting to his crate

I have a 7 month old male puppy that has never really taking to his crate, he just doesn't relax in it. I only crate him during the day while away at work, and he is let out at lunch time. I have tried the large plastic covered ones, metal wire crate, and throwing a blanket over it so that it is extra dark; but nothing seems to lessen his anxiety. I have tried treats, toys, laying in front of the crate with him to help relax, but majority of the time nothing helps. He has chewed up every…See More
